Our client came to us with a real need. His family was growing (wife, young son and dog) and his single-level Edgemont (North Vancouver) bungalow was nearing capacity.
The spare bedroom was being used as a Home Office but our client complained: “It was being used as a dumping ground for stuff around the house.”
With the clutter closing in and unable to focus on his work during the day it meant his business was suffering. Read more ›
The Ralmax Group of Companies based in Victoria BC is growing fast. Their recent acquisition of Trio Ready-Mix and the decision to set up a new aggregate/landscape supply depot in View Royal left them with some very specific needs. They wanted a Modular Sales Office that was sleek, modern and built offsite. Westcoast Outbuildings was able to fill that need in a very short period of time.
We supplied them with a custom designed 12′ x 24′ Lifestyle Modular Sales Office complete with a beautiful sales desk made from salvaged/reclaimed lumber. Built in our North Vancouver factory and transported 99% complete via commercial hauler and BC Ferries is this the largest building we have transported to date.
This Modular Sales Office is the first of three buildings we are contracted to build over the next 45 days. If you would like to view this building it is located at the SW corner of Admirals Rd & Hallowell Rd in View Royal (Victoria)

This East Vancouver Art Studio was designed for a burgeoning graphic artist who was ready to move his workbench from the Kitchen Table to his own dedicated work-space. Designed to be a central focal point of the backyard this East Vancouver Art Studio is nestled up against the cherry trees and clematis vines and appears enveloped in the surrounding yard.
Our client came to us looking to replace their 1930’s Rat INFESTED East Vancouver Garage with a new, Modern Garage. But more than just a garage, a new flex-space with room to store all their gear, bikes, lawnmowers you name it.
Though a strange quirk in the universe at the same time we were building this building we are asked to demolish an old garage in Kerrisdale which had the identical 1930’s era fir siding that matches our client’s main house.
The result was a historically accurate mix of reclaimed fir siding with a very modern twist.
Ultimately it was the creation of a focal point in the backyard that was both functional and beautiful that really makes this project stand apart from the rest.
Our client came to us looking for a small building to house his electric Meat Smoker. Many of the Prefab Smokehouse products he had seen on the market were poorly built and didn’t look very nice.
Our task was to It had to be robust, secure and most importantly aesthetically pleasing Prefab Smokehouse (Prefab Meat Smoker).
For the overall design, we went with a Modern Shed style building with acrylic clerestory windows on the side and a vented front window complete with bug screen.
For the siding on the building, we chose to use the ancient Japanese wood preserving method of Shou Sugi Ban. Essentially we burned and charred the wood which officers a protective layer that preserves the wood for generations to come.
The results are truly stunning. We love the Shou Sugi Ban Prefab Smokehouse!
This building was prefabricated in our North Vancouver Factory and installed onsite in 90 minutes.
There is simply something magical about jumping on a BC Ferry and heading out to the Gulf Islands. So quick to get there (45 min by ferry) yet a world away once you’re there.
We were contacted this fall by a client looking to build a small cabin on his property on Galiano Island. The property consisted of a little over 4 acres of forest and rolling hills with a lovely building site set above the valley.
The client wanted something, simple, modern yet a bit rustic and finding that balance was a real challenge but I think we did it. The result was a beautiful 10′ wide x 24′ long Coastal Cabin with a 120 sq/ft indoor living space and 120 sq/ft outdoor living space.
Surrounded by the forest and snowcapped peaks lies Deep Cove, a suburb of North Vancouver.
Our client was a TV & Movie Screen Writer looking for a way to escape the day-to-day commotion of the household, a place to retreat and write without disturbances of everyday life.
The solution was tucked away in a tiny backyard and it’s a beautiful 8’x18’ Contemporary Backyard Office by Westcoast Outbuildings.
