10 X 10 Kitsilano Modular / Prefab Motorcycle Garage:
As part of an entire backyard renovation our Kitsilano client opted to have us build and deliver a cute 10′ x10′ Tough-Structures Gable Shed. The Gable Shed will be used to house a motorcycle, workbench and associated riding gear. On the lane side of the building there are a set of 56″ wide french doors giving drive up access to the Modular Motorcycle Garage.
The garage was built in our North Vancouver shop and transported fully built to site.
As this project was under 107.6 Sq/Ft or 10 m2 no building permit was required Modular Motorcycle Garage.
Having recently completed construction on their Modern / Contemporary Westcoast Home in North Vancouver our client realized they had a problem. As with most “Modern” designs there is little room for the storage of “STUFF”!
This too was the case, no room for the lawn mower, shovels, rakes etc. that would be used to keep their yard pristine and clean.
Our client called us needing to find a storage solution to their problem and reclaim all the room in their garage taken up the yard care implements.
It was time… The existing wooden garden shed had served well but with an ever more distinct list to the left the shed’s days were numbered.
Our client called us wanting to replace the listing structure with a nice new 10’ wide by 8’ Long Contemporary Backyard Office / Storage building. The first 4’ of the building would be Storage and the balance a nice, bright and airy office / craft space.
In the fall of 2013 we were contacted by The Dharma Fellowship of His Holiness the Gyalwa Karmapa who maintains a Hermitage for meditation and spiritual practice on Denman Island, one of the small gulf islands that lie off the West Coast of British Columbia, Canada.
Founded in 2005, the Hermitage provides simple facilities for those seeking spiritual renewal, for inner peace and self-realization, within a serene Buddhist setting. Still very new, and with no funding other than what comes from dedicated members, the property is very much in an early stage of development; nevertheless events, meditation retreats, teaching sessions, the participation of Lamas and teachers, and the growth of a definite spiritual presence, has already begun to emerge.
Our client Peterson Residential Property Management had a problem. Years of accumulated water damage and rot had culminated in the removal of their equipment shed that fall. With the coming winter there was nowhere to store the snow shovels and snow-blower.
Upon touring the local hardware stores it was obvious none of the shed available would suit their needs in a commercial townhouse complex. Their next call was Westcoast Outbuildings.
Although it may look like a basic gable storage shed this was one of our most complex installations to date.
Bowen Island, British Columbia, is an islandmunicipality in Howe Sound, is part of the Metro Vancouver, and is an island included within the jurisdiction of the Islands Trust. Approximately 6 km wide by 12 km long, the island at its closest point is about 3 km west of the mainland. There is regular ferry service from Horseshoe Bay, as well as three water taxi services. The population of 3,402 is supplemented in the summer by roughly 1,500 visitors, as Bowen Island is a popular vacation home location for British Columbians. About 500 workers and over 200 students commute to offices and schools on the mainland each day.
Our client had decided it was time to get away from the city… not just getaway for the weekend, get away permanently!
It was time to escape the rat race and move to Bowen Island for a little peace and quiet.
As an established painter and visual artist our client decided pretty early on that she wanted a separate place to work outside of the house. The decision was made to remove an old rundown shed and replace it with a new modular artist’s studio.
Our client decided it was time to clean up the backyard of this East Vancouver Heritage House. The answer for esthetics and storage requirements was our 8′ x 12′ Tough-Structures Backyard Cabin complete with 4′ front Covered Porch.
In this case the client opted to complete the site preparation themselves. Westcoast Outbuildings rolled up with a completed Modular Backyard Cabin and placed it on site in about 30 minutes. Talk about instant storage space!
Spring was in the air, the garage was full of ATV’s, Motorbikes and assorted man toys. My client wanted somewhere to work on his Hotrod and with all the stuff in that garage that wasn’t going to happen any time soon.
He needed more storage. The first thought was a storage locker but that meant his toys were too far from home and the access to them would be restricted likely to business hours.
He need ACCESSIBLE STORAGE that wasn’t in a storage facility!
The solution was contacting Westcoast Outbuildings and ordering one of our Tough-Structures Gable Sheds. After an onsite consultation my client choose an 8’x20’ Building that would fit perfectly down the side of the house next to the neighbours fence.
