This East Vancouver Art Studio was designed for a burgeoning graphic artist who was ready to move his workbench from the Kitchen Table to his own dedicated work-space. Designed to be a central focal point of the backyard this East Vancouver Art Studio is nestled up against the cherry trees and clematis vines and appears enveloped in the surrounding yard.
Bowen Island, British Columbia, is an islandmunicipality in Howe Sound, is part of the Metro Vancouver, and is an island included within the jurisdiction of the Islands Trust. Approximately 6 km wide by 12 km long, the island at its closest point is about 3 km west of the mainland. There is regular ferry service from Horseshoe Bay, as well as three water taxi services. The population of 3,402 is supplemented in the summer by roughly 1,500 visitors, as Bowen Island is a popular vacation home location for British Columbians. About 500 workers and over 200 students commute to offices and schools on the mainland each day.
Our client had decided it was time to get away from the city… not just getaway for the weekend, get away permanently!
It was time to escape the rat race and move to Bowen Island for a little peace and quiet.
As an established painter and visual artist our client decided pretty early on that she wanted a separate place to work outside of the house. The decision was made to remove an old rundown shed and replace it with a new modular artist’s studio.
Our client is a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) and she came a came to us looking for a change. After years of renting a downtown office space to run here massage practice, she wanted to cut the monthly RENT and start working out of her backyard. And save the daily commute from North Vancouver to Downtown Vancouver.
This project was a FIRST for us.

Our clients moved into their East Vancouver Heritage House just one day before our installation started.
With a new house and a brand new baby in the family they called Westcoast Outbuildings they were in desperate need for a Backyard Office / Backyard Music Studio to provide some quite space to work.
We provide them with a custom designed 8’x12’ Modern Shed complete with power, lighting and internet hookups. We love the juxtaposition of the New Modern Shed against the lines of the Heritage House.
When Kristen Hall-Geisler used to work from her home’s spare bedroom turned home office, she found herself wasting a lot of time. It got her thinking about a prefab writers studio.
“I would think, ‘I should be working. I should be writing this article,’” recalls Kristen, a freelance automotive writer and book editor. “Instead, I’d putter around and read and go downstairs and then realize I hadn’t gotten any work done.”
JACKSON HOLE — As a musician, Beth McIntosh felt she really needed four walls of her own, it was time for a Prefab Music Studio.
The award-winning singer-songwriter lives in Wilson, Wyoming, a small burg nestled in the Jackson Hole Valley, where temperatures often drop 20 below zero degrees Fahrenheit.
For years, Beth wrote songs, practiced on her guitar and keyboard and taught music lessons out of a beloved restored vintage travel trailer in her backyard.
