With a new baby in the family, our client decided it was time for more outdoor storage. Time to move the bikes out of the garage and make way for strollers and car seats. Of course with the District of North Vancouver’s new Bi-Weekly garbage pickup a longer-term, animal-proof garbage storage facility was now needed.
Our client chooses our brand new Tough-Structures Contemporary Garden Shed design. This sleek single pitch roof is paired with poly-carbonate clerestory windows which let in a ton of light. My client also opted to add an additional window for increased ventilation and light.
One of the great things about our Tough-Structures line of buildings is that they are not permanently affixed to the ground and can be easily moved or relocated as necessary.

Designed as a place for visitors to rest their travel weary bones this Guesthouse concept could easily be adapted as a Laneway House for the Vancouver marketplace.
Typically the Vancouver Laneway House market is filled with a lot of rather expensive building options. Buildings in the $250K-400K are certainly not unheard of if not the norm these days.
How to figure out the maximum shed size without a permit:
Most major Canadian Municipalities allow for a maximum shed size without a permit of 10 square metres or 107 square feet.
Sheds such as our 10 x 10 | 8 x 10 | 8 x 12 can typically be built in most Metro Vancouver Municipalities without a building permit.
If you want to build a shed larger than the maximum shed size allowed without a permit you will need to obtain a building permit from your local municipality.
