Lesson Check-In Kiosk at Mount Seymour, North Vancouver

Outbuildings.ca-Mount-Seymour-Kiosk-Front-Windows-And-Sign

This small cedar booth is the lesson check-in kiosk at Mount Seymour ski area in North Vancouver. We built it in our shop and set it in place on 5 August 2018, beside the Alpine Activity Centre, where skiers and snowboarders check in for single-day lessons.

About this kiosk

The upper walls are cedar board-and-batten, and the lower part has horizontal cedar lap siding. The front has two white single-hung windows under a “Single Day Lesson Check-In” sign, and a white 6-panel door is on the side. The single-slope roof has red metal fascia over green fascia and matches the red and green trim on the lodge behind it.

A green painted band with red trim runs around the base. The kiosk sits on wood blocks on the asphalt, which means it could be moved later without digging up a foundation.

Frequently asked questions

Can you build a kiosk or booth for a business?

Yes. A small booth like this can be built for ticket sales, check-in, security or parking. The size, windows, door and colours are chosen to suit the site and the business.

Does a small kiosk need a foundation?

Not always. Many small booths sit on wood blocks or skids on a flat, solid surface such as asphalt. This keeps the cost down and lets the building be moved later. Check with your city or landowner about the rules for your site.

Can the colours match an existing building?

Yes. On this kiosk, the red and green fascia and trim match the lodge right behind it, so the new booth fits in with the older building.
