Tucked into an un-used deck this Modern Office makes an excellent addition to any backyard.
Our Backyard Office Loft project has been one of the most fulfilling jobs of the year. Nearly 4 months in the planning this building was designed to be built within the 107 Sq/Ft exemption in the BC Building code. Buildings under 107 Sq/ft do not require a building permit.
At 105 Sq/Ft at the floor plate, this building has a loft at 7′ which allows for two distinct areas. The main floor for the office and the loft for the reading/relaxing room.
Due to the size, weight, snow and wind load requirements, we did have this building structurally engineered to ensure it would last a lifetime. With main foundations of over 50″ deep, this building isn’t going anywhere.
It was time… The existing wooden garden shed had served well but with an ever more distinct list to the left the shed’s days were numbered.
Our client called us wanting to replace the listing structure with a nice new 10’ wide by 8’ Long Contemporary Backyard Office / Storage building. The first 4’ of the building would be Storage and the balance a nice, bright and airy office / craft space.
